Question:

Java, Javascript, PHP, AJAX, CGI? what do i need to know?

I learned HTML and CSS but then there are so many other languages. I hope to be a web developer(if that's the person who does the main coding)

Do I really need to know all these? or can I choose few and stick with them. please help me

  1. if you want to be a basic web designer, you do need to know Javascript. PHP, AJAX, and CGI just add some spice to your web pages, and would be helpful to know, but not necessary. Java is for making programs and web apps, so you probably don't need to know that.


  2. PHP, AJAX , and CGI , yes you will need to know. as for java and java script, those are more of a development tool for things such as animation or game design, but it does not hurt, because if an employer looks at two resume's and they are pretty well the same, but you know java and the other person does not, that could be the deciding factor in you landing your dream job.  You can also use java for some web elements such as animations for buttons or other things.
