http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556 to retire – Cricket News Update
Javed Miandad, the former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 captain and legendary batsman, has advised Sachin Tendulkar to call it a day from the international sport before he becomes a liability on the Indian team.
Tendulkar, 39, has been playing international cricket since 1989 and has been an ever present member for the national team in Tests as well as in One Day Internationals.
With more than 33 thousand runs and 100 centuries at the game’s ultimate stage, the Little-Master is surely one of the greatest batsmen of history, with no one even remotely close to his career achievements.
The batting-maestro however, since the last couple of years, has been below par with the bat and failed to make a difference for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/VVS-Laxman-c2772, two great
Indian batsmen, announced their retirement from international cricket this year but Tendulkar has asserted his desire to carry on.
In the recently finished Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 at home, the great batsman looked out of sorts and was bowled in all the three innings, managing merely 63 runs.
Miandad, who is considered to be one of the best batsmen produced by the sub-continent, believes that Tendulkar is such a great player that no one can force him to retire. In the former Pakistan captain’s opinion however, a player must quit the game on a
high.
“I don’t want to ask him to retire. Nobody can force him or push him. But if you ask me as a cricketer, he has played enough cricket. Maybe he'll play for another 4 or 6 months,” said Javed. “This kind of decision is entirely up to the player. It’s better
to leave cricket when you are wanted, but don’t leave when people say thank God he is gone.”
The former cricketer from Karachi further added that Tendulkar has achieved everything a young player can dream of and the legendary batsman must not leave his fate in the selectors’ hands.
“My advice to him as a cricketer is that top cricketers should leave when they are on top,” he added.
