Legendary Pakistan batsman Javed Miandad on Thursday said that he will consider the offer to become the batting coach of the national team after its tour of West Indies.
Pakistan’s poor batting performance against India in the recently concluded ICC World Cup 2011 semi-final prompted the Pakistan team management to consider appointment of a full-time batting coach.
The chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 tried to convince the former Pakistan captain, who is also member of the PCB board of directors, to take up the job.

“I had detailed meetings with Mr. Butt and Afridi but I told them that I could not travel with the team to the West Indies,” said Miandad while talking to the media. “I think the tour of West Indies is not a tough one. After this tour, I
might consider taking up the coaching assignment.”
Miandad, with a tally of 8,832 runs from 124 Test matches, holds the record of scoring most Test runs by any Pakistan player and his record of six World Cup appearances is only matched by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s Sachin Tendulkar. Since his retirement from

The PCB selection committee has brought wholesale changes in the World Cup squad for the Caribbean tour. It has brought in five young players resting some of the senior players of the team.
Miandad, who was member of the 1992 World Cup winning squad of Pakistan, backed the selectors’ decision of picking talented youngsters from domestic circuit.
“It's the right time to look ahead for the future and start preparing for the next World Cup,” said the former Pakistan coach. “We have to look for players who could be there in 2015 (World Cup) and if they have potential, we should start
giving them proper chances.”
The Shahid Afridi-led Pakistan team would leave for the Caribbean next week and the itinerary includes one Twenty20 international, five One Day Internationals and two Test matches.
