Javed Miandad set to coach Pakistan batsmen as selectors reveal new look squad for limited overs series against West Indies
Former Pakistan coach and batting legend http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045.
Javed who is hailed as the greatest ever Pakistani batsman stated that he was ready to take over as batting coach provided he was given the freedom to work on his peril in a set-up that also includes bowling greats Waqar Younis and
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aaqib-Javed-c41431 who both played under his captaincy in the early nineties.
The passionate batsman who was known for his ability to bat under crisis is being looked upon as the man who can take the team out of its current batting fiasco that was apparent through out the World Cup.
The men in green failed to score even a single century in the tournament despite getting to the semi-final and were knocked out of the tournament when they failed to overhaul a gettable target of 260 runs against eventual champions
India at Mohali in the high profile second semi-final of the tournament.
Javed told media that he has been in contact with both Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 and ODI and T20 captain Shahid Afridi and was keen to help the batsmen.
"I had detailed meetings with Mr. [Ijaz] Butt and [Shahid] Afridi, but I told them that I could not travel with the team to the West Indies," Miandad told
AP. "I think the tour of West Indies is not a tough one. After this tour I might consider taking up the [batting] coaching assignment."
Miandad who has had three stints as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 head coach, has had run-ins with the management every time he took over the reins of the team. His most successful tenure was in 1998-99 when he took the team to India, the team led by

Pakistan went on to win the tournament that also featured http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, while the tour was capped off with a convincing win in an ODI tournament featuring the same team.
On the other side of the coin, he was the coach when Indians toppled Pakistan both in test and ODI series in the landmark tour of 2004, which was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s maiden test series win on Pakistani soil.
He has stated time and again that he remains passionate about Pakistan cricket and is willing to serve in any capacity; presently he is the Director General of the Board and draws a handsome salary.
He added that he wanted to improve the finer points in the batsmen’s technique.
"I believe that once a batsman is selected for the national team you can't change his technique," he said. "You can only teach him the finer points of the game, like how to handle various bowlers on different pitches."
Meanwhile the national selection committee has named a new look team for the series against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, the team has a string of new bowlers who are set to be tested by the Caribbean batsmen who can thrash the best in the world

The team also has a new wicket-keeper in Mohammad Salman who replaces the out of form Kamran Akmal.
