Javed Miandad should not be sent with the team for the New Zealand Tour: Sarfraz Nawaz
Former Pakistan pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Javed-Miandad-c66580 to New Zealand with the national team because such an action may do
more harm than good.
Sarfraz believes that it will be a difficult situation for the PCB if head coach Waqar Younis and Miandad get tangled in a conflict with each other during the lengthy tour.
He said, “I want to make it very clear, well before the start of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 tour that Miandad should not be allowed to travel with the team. I don’t see Miandad getting along with Waqar Younis. If he accompanies the team,
there is every chance for fresh controversy.”
Nawaz believes that there will be a power struggle between the two high-profile players and this might turn into another ugly mess for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. Nawaz said that Waqar has made it very clear he will not tolerate any interference
in the coaching department and knowing Miandad, it is almost certain that he will not restrict himself to the batting department. Javed will surely want to have his influence on the other departments which will not go down well with Younis.
He was also not happy with the PCB’s decision to organise a training camp at a time when the Quaid-e-Azam trophy was still in progress. Sarfraz said that it was not appropriate of the PCB to ask the players to join the training
camp and ditch their domestic teams. He said, “The selected players should be asked to play for their respective teams rather than inviting them for the camp. It is the match practice and getting involved in competition that matters. Organising a camp at this
stage would hardly benefit the players.”
The legendary pacer condemned the PCB for not announcing the One-Day squad for the New Zealand tour. He was also unhappy with the delay of the board in announcing the squad for the 2011 World Cup. He said that it was time to forget
the players who were under suspicion of match-fixing () and the PCB should move on and announce the 2011 squad without considering the tainted players.
