The director general of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 and said that he is annoyed of the situation prevailing in PCB. The former cricketer also alleged the current administration of PCB responsible behind the lost prestige of the board.
Younis Khan was snubbed from the test squad of England tour last month despite his indefinite ban was revoked. A heavy slam came from the selection committee members, who were not consulted during squad selection, as well as the former cricketers for leaving behind Younis Khan. The veteran test player, Javed Miandad also raised his voice for the discriminatory policy adopted by the board with Younis Khan.
"How can I keep quiet when wrong decisions are being taken, when the board is bent upon wasting the career of a player like Younus Khan, when the Chairman listens to no one?" he asked.
Relations between the Miandad and PCB deteriorated after Miandad received a show cause notice from the COO of PCB Wasim Bari for criticising the team selection for the England tour. Miandad lashed out the statement of Tafazzul Risvi, legal adviser of PCB in which he asked Younus to apologise to the PCB chief if he wants himself to be considered for the national selection.
"I don't know why they want to destroy his career. What wrong has he committed that he should not be in the team and must first apologise to the Chairman?" Miandad asked.
Javed Miandad has got many other complaints with the board’s administration as well. He said that he has been giving coaching tips to the emerging players but the PCB or selection committee has never bothered to take his opinion regarding those players.
Miandad said that he spent three weeks with the young cricketers at NCA in the scorching heat to help them polish their technical and tactical capabilities and remained successful as the players showed improvement in these skills. He said that after spending the time with the young talent he was expecting to be contacted by the selectors to share his recommendations but this never happened and nobody consulted him.
He also said that Ijaz Butt had no time to meet him. Miandad said that he tried for a one-on-one meeting with the Chairman, but he had no time for him. The former coach said that he was Director General of PCB and not a low profile board employee whom the PCB chief denied to meet. “Now when the chairman of the board has no time for the director general then I am left with no other choice but to directly contact the patron of the board, the President of Pakistan.”
Javed Miandad did not attend the last week’s meeting of the governing board summoned for the approval of Rs2.6 billion budget for the next fiscal year. His absence from the meeting prompted Ijaz Butt, who was presiding the budget meeting, to pass some mocking comments while addressing the press conference.
Miandad defending his absence said that the prior promises did not let him attend the meeting and he had informed the PCB about it well in time.
The inept, crooked and self-cantered administration looking after the PCB affairs has disgraced the country on the international level and the Pakistan cricket has seen the day when a cricketer, Malcolm Speed, has called the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board a “buffoon”. The quality and standard of cricket under such an inefficient management has plunged down the drain.
