Javed Miandad slams players’ behaviour in final of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy
Former Pakistan captain and legendary batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Javed-Miandad-c66580 slammed the behaviour of the players who featured in the recently concluded final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at the National Stadium in Karachi.
The Director General of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Miandad was very upset with the behaviour of the players as players from both the teams abused each other during the match which was won by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Habib-Bank-Limited-c788.
The players failed to control their temperament and the on-field umpires were unable to control the situation. Apart from the players’ behaviour, the match was highlighted due to several other issues like bad umpiring, ball tampering and indiscipline.
Miandad said, “The players need to change their attitude if they want to move forward. When two teams play, one has to finish at the losing end and the players will have to learn to accept defeat gracefully.”
The former Pakistani great said that, “I feel let down by the actions of these players. There are some players who are very talented and can play for the national team. But for that they need to change their mentality and attitude.”
On the other hand, a senior official of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-International-Airlines-c831 totally disagreed with the statements given by Miandad.
He said, “The players were all pumped up and in the heat of moment things can be said to the opponents. Sledging is a part and parcel of the game. Australians have been doing that, similarly other top teams do so too.”
The PIA official also blamed the on-field umpires and said that they need to control things in the middle.
Both the PIA and HBL have blamed each other and one of the HBL players said that the abusive language by the PIA players was intolerable but they did not want to ruin the spirit of the game and continued to play the game as it should have been played.
Although the players can share some words on the field against each other, there is a limit which should not be crossed. The PCB needs to step-up and investigate this matter in order to penalise the wrongdoers. Issues like this have to be stopped at the
grass root level to avoid humiliation at the international level.
