Javed Miandad is going to decide whether or not to accept the role of batting consultant for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128.
According to sources, Miandad – who is presently working as the Director General of the PCB – has been asked by the Chairman to meet him on Tuesday to discuss the terms and conditions of the job.
“Miandad will inform the Chairman of his decision tomorrow, particularly if he is willing to go to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 with the team or even work with the players in the national camp being set up in Lahore from Wednesday,” the sources
reported.
The PCB has requested Miandad to work as batting and fielding consultant for the Pakistan team, both during training camp as well as during Pakistan’s upcoming tour of New Zealand. Other conditions have also been put before the
former captain for his consideration. The primary conditions Miandad will have to abide by, after accepting the offer, include working under the supervision of head coach Waqar Younis – meaning he will not be able to directly coach the players without consulting
Younis. According to sources, Miandad, who has already been coach of the national team in the past, was not comfortable with these conditions due to his seniority over Younis, and was uncertain about accepting the job.
“If his conditions are not met by the board under which he wants to work with the team, then he might just prefer to help out in the training camp and not to go to New Zealand,” said the source.
When approached for his views on this development, Intikhab Alam, manager of the Pakistani team, said that he was unaware of Miandad’s availability as batting consultant. Moreover, he said that it was a direct issue between Miandad
and the board, and that they were perhaps in a better situation to provide relevant details about the matter.
Meanwhile, Younis is arriving from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 on December 8th to join the training camp in Lahore.
