Javed Miandad wants to shift T20 Championship from Lahore to Karachi – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB) official is doing everything he can to shift the upcoming Faisal Bank Twenty20 (T20) Championship from Lahore to Karachi, after
the recent outbreak of the dengue virus in the heart of Punjab.
According to a source, Miandad, who is already in clash with the Board as well as its Chairman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, disagreed with their stance that the limited overs championship should be held in Lahore, despite the outbreak.
For the matter, it has also been reported that Miandad has already gained the support of his government contacts, as well as from the regional cricket associations that are already taking part in the event, scheduled to kick off at the Gaddafi Stadium in
Lahore on September 25.
“Miandad is doing everything within his power to convince the affiliated units to also convey their reservations to the Board over having the event in Lahore at a time when the dengue fever outbreak has already claimed 41 lives,” stated a source.
A source also cited that Miandad is planning to raise the issue during his probable meeting with the Chief Patron of PCB and the nation’s President, Asif Ali Zardari, who is currently visiting the province of Sindh to survey the recent flood-hit areas of
the region.
However, the meeting is also scheduled to highlight the ongoing rift between PCB and Miandad after the latter refused to respond to a show cause notice issued to him for slamming the board for its mismanagment.
As for PCB and its infamous Chairman, Butt is rigid on his stance to host the tournament in Lahore, despite the recent recommendations by the former cricketers for rescheduling the event due to the virus out-break that has already claimed the lives of many
in the region.
However, in their defence, the Board cited that they have received all guarantees from the Government of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 for the players' safety as well as precautionary measures.
