Real Zaragoza’s official website announced late on Thursday evening that Javier Aguirre’s contract was terminated by mutual consent. Aguirre will attend the training for a short while, bidding farewell to Los Manos squad after a year in charge.
The club have been performing woefully in the current La Liga campaign, which resulted in the ousting of the former Osasuna manager. Zaragoza are at the bottom of the league table, five points adrift of safety.
The Aragonese club have failed to register a win in their last nine games, losing against one and all. However, Real Zaragoza’s ousting from the Copa del Rey proved to be the final nail in the coffin.
The firing of Aguirre continues the trend of managers coming to La Romareda from the revolving door since Agapito took over at Real Zaragoza in May 2006.
Aguirre departs after taking control of the team in November 2010, when he replaced Jose Aurelio g*y.
In a bid to revive their La Liga campaign, President Agapito Iglesias removed the tactician from his position.
The club have announced Michel as his replacement, and the former Spanish international has been given a contract until the end of the season.
