Mexico 5-0 http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/El-Salvador-c2891: Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez scores a hat-trick –
CONCACAF Gold Cup
Mexico faced El Salvador on the opening night of the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup and pocketed their first victory to go atop the Group A with three points. Manchester United star, Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez, scored a hat-trick in the Mexican jersey to seal
the match in the reigning champions’ favour.
Although the player added three late goals in the game and stole the match in front of a sold out over crowd at Cowboys Stadium, Texas, his demeanour after the match was of a humble and concerned person.
“I’ve always said we can’t settle or feel satisfied with a win,” Hernandez said. “We always need to work and see what we need to improve on with or without goals.”
While http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-c23383 de la Torre, praised the striker for his performance on the opening night, his focus was on the overall performance of the outfit. “I think of the team,” de la Torre said in his postgame comments. “He had the good fortune
to score, but as a result of the team play. That’s what the forwards are in there to do.”
The main concern of the head coach was the first-half El Tri performance, where his men struggled for possession.
El Salvador managed to keep the CONCACAF powerhouse at bay for the first 45 minutes and ended the first half with scores tied. Although the team struggled in the offensive third, they did create some chances.
However, the hat-trick changed the pace of the game and Mexico enjoyed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Total-c40747 domination for the rest of the game.
Hernandez’s first goal came in the 60th minute when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andrés-Guardado-c5861 crossed the ball into the box for Chicarito to head home his team’s third.
Guardado notched the second assist of the day nine minutes later; his cross found Hernandez who dribbled past La Selecta http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Defence-c38904 and lobbed the ball into the back of the net to add the fourth goal of the game.
The fifth and final goal came of a penalty-kick, when the Red Devils striker was fouled in the penalty area. Hernandez stepped up to take the kick and converted it in the fifth minute of the second-half injury time.
