Javier Hernandez, Michael Carrick and Rafael to miss out for Manchester United in Community Shield
It seems like there is some bad news for Manchester United, ahead of their Community Shield clash against arch rivals Manchester City.
United have now gone on to report that the trio of Javier Hernandez, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Carrick-c25282 and Rafael are going to be missing in action for the game and hence the team will have to look towards other players to fill in for them.
Hernandez went on to suffer a concussion in the pre season tour of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034 and it seems like he is still a month away from completely recovering from his injury.
Manchester United m manager Sir Alex Ferguson when talking about the Mexican striker at the pre-match press conference said: “Hernandez is still two to three weeks away.
“He should be back at the end of August.”
Carrick on the other hand is set to miss out due to a strain in his Achilles tendon. The player complained of the injury during Edwin Van Der Sar’s testimonial game and it seems like he will be kept away from the community shield game, in order to avoid any long term injuries.
Rafael on the other hand injured himself while facing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in a pre season friendly and is still a week or two away from regaining match fitness.
However, the duo of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Darren-Fletcher-c10361 have been declared fit for the game and are going to be available, should the manager decide to use them against City.
Going into the game, United are the reigning champions of the Community Shield. The team beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson sees the tournament as nothing more than a stepping stone, to the Premier League.
Ferguson ended by stating: “I've always viewed the Community Shield as a stepping stone for the first game of the season and there are two or three players who will need a game.”
