Javier Hernandez admits he can’t wait to play for Manchester United
Javier Hernandez has admitted that he is already savoring the challenge to make it to the starting lineup for Manchester United and he can’t wait to finally play his first match in a red shirt.
The Mexican joined Manchester United from his home town club of Chivas Guadalajara, and may well debut for his new club in an MLS All-Star team at the Reliant Stadium in America in a few days time.
The striker would have to face a difficult test of breaking into the first team as Manchester boasts of some strong fire power up front. Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov are the three first team strikers, while youngsters Federico Macheda, Danny Welbeck and Mame Biram Diouf also pose as a strong threat for the newly signed player. This would create an intimidating scenario for any player, but the Mexican seemingly is not bothered by it.
The player is confident that he would make it into the starting line-up, but would face some tough competition. The Mexican stated that it was never easy to climb up the ranks, as he has already been through this stage while playing for Chivas. The 22-year-old stated that there would always be competition in a club like Manchester United, as the club boasts of some world class and famous players in the squad. The player added that he aims to do his best in training and then let the manager and coaching staff decide his fate, which is how things work around the club.
The strikers persevered that he would make an instant impact at his new club, and will not fail like his fellow countrymen Dos Santos and Carlos Vela. Both Vela and Santos are yet to leave an impression on their respective clubs who are not adapting well to the toughness of the English Premier League. Both these players are yet to breakthrough into the starting XI, but Hernandez was unaffected by it.
Javier stated that he had a word with his Mexican teammates who were happy for him. He further admitted that the English Premier League is the most powerful league on the planet. The striker added that both Santos and Vela advised him to take full advantage of the situation and Hernandez thanked the Lord for giving him this wonderful opportunity. Hernandez stated that he saw pressure in a very different way, claiming that pressure motivates him. The Mexican was aware of the fact that millions of young footballers would do absolutely anything to be in the position of Hernandez if they had a similar opportunity.
The player was happy to be part of such a legendary club, and considered it as his honour to play for such a club. Hernandez added that he wants to achieve great things with the Red Devils and considered this as an easy test to clear. The striker hoped that he may be able to contribute to the team’s overall performance.
It would be a dream-come-true for a player like Hernandez to feature amongst the true greats of football at Manchester United. To stand alongside legends such as Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes would be intimidating even for the top players and Hernandez was therefore humbled.
Hernandez stated that he followed the club back in Mexico, and watched its squad play week after week. The player added that he would play with these players on his play station, and now the feeling of playing with them on the field in real life is truly unbelievable.
The player confirmed that he dreamt of playing with them one day, and now that he has been given that opportunity, he looks to make the most of it and learn from his seniors. The player also had some individual goals, and wanted to perhaps contribute something to the overall team performance, since football is all about team work. The player vowed to win the title for Manchester United in his first appearance in front of English crowds.
