Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez is delighted to have beaten Ajax in the Europa League and believes this win is going to give the team a massive confidence boost.
United took on Ajax in their first ever Europa League game, which was being hailed as one of the biggest games of the night.
The game kicked off with both the teams producing a rather poor performance in the first half of the game and it seemed like the game would end as a draw.
However, Alex Ferguson urged his team to go on and perform to the best of their abilities in the second half, in hopes of picking up a win from the game.
As a result, United went on to score two goals in the second half, which has now resulted in them taking the two goal advantage into the second leg of the tie.
A highly delighted Hernandez, when talking about the game is quoted to have said: “We know this is a game of two legs and we worked together to a great result and thankfully for the team we got two goals and the victory.”
“We know Ajax is a very difficult team, a historical team in the European Cup, also in the Europa League and it was very difficult.
“Thankfully we scored twice and we are happy with this but we know there is 90 minutes more.
“We can't say that we are already through to the other round.”
The striker then went on to reveal that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson has urged the team to step their game up in the half time break, as he told them all goals were worth two in an away leg and that is why it was important for the team to score.
Hernandez then went on to add: “[He told us] to keep going, to up the tempo, to play our game and to try to score because we know the goals count for two."
Alex Ferguson has gone on to claim that he wasn’t really impressed with the way his side performed, despite the team having picked up the win in the game.
Nonetheless, should United go on and play even better in the second leg of the tie, they could end up scoring a number of goals against Ajax, as they look to ensure their progress to the next round of the tournament.
It is now going to be a wait to see whether United can maintain their lead over their Dutch opponents, or if Ajax can do the unthinkable and send United crashing out of the Europa League.
