Javier Hernandez leaves a good impression on manager Sir Alex Ferguson
Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson was greatly impressed by Hernandez’s debut run for the club when his young side defeated the MLS All Stars with a 5-2 drubbing. Hernandez had a dream debut, scoring in his first match for Manchester United. Meanwhile, youngster Federico Macheda scored twice on the occasion which proved to be a match for the youngsters. One each from Thomas Cleverly and Darren Gibson sunk the American side.
The manager praised the Mexican’s ability and stated that the player’s pace and speed would be a key factor needed for United as they look to regain the English Premier League title. The striker made a second half substitute appearance for his dream club and was given a warm welcome from all the fans. All youngsters shone brightly during the match and that was just what the manager expected from him. Alex Fergusson had hailed his youngster’s ability, claiming them to be one of the best young players available in the market.
While talking about Hernandez, Sir Alex stated that the defenders would be threatened because of the Mexican’s speed who has the ability to get behind the defenders in a flash. Ferguson added that the striker’s goal was a proof of that unstoppable speed who had timed his run to perfection. Sir Alex added that his vision along with his quick feet is going to pose a serious threat to any defence line. Hernandez hugely impressed everyone with his speed at the World Cup, when he scored on two occasions in four matches for his national side. The player scored against France and Argentina and therefore made a name for himself even before he had played a single minute for Manchester United. Hernandez was labelled as the fastest player of the tournament and he would be looking to use his pace for his club. The striker’s vision and finishing ability is a very rare talent to find in one player and United would be looking to use his talent to good use in the new season.
Macheda also made an impressive start after being gifted the ball by All Stars full back Kevin Alston who scored with his right foot. The manager added that Macheda is the best in one-on-one situations and is highly unlikely to miss from such a situation. The manager added that the player was amazing in such sort of situations which gives him the confidence that Macheda won’t miss. When Macheda got the ball in front of goal, Ferguson expected him to score and that is exactly what he did.
Darron Gibson scored his goal from a beautiful free kick, which was flawless, and gave the keeper no chance whatsoever. Gibson drove the ball in the top corner as he easily overcame the wall and found the back of the net. Thomas Cleverly also found the net, owing to a flick over the goal keeper and then finished it off with a calm finish, to get his name on the scoring sheet. Ferguson hailed Cleverly’s composure, and stated that one would need a lot of confidence to do that. The player scored an outstanding goal which made Ferguson happy.
United won their previous pre-season fixture against Kansas City with a score line of 2-1 but showed no signs of disappointment this time around. The manager was happy with his young team’s performance and got what he wanted when his players kept most of the possession. Sir Alex was happy that his team had improved in keeping the ball with himself after giving the opposition less chances to have a shot on goal.
The manager added that his team showed good synergy and kept a perfect rhythm and pace to the game. Ferguson was happy with the overall performance who claimed that his team was mentally confident before going into the contest.
It was not only good news for the club as the young winger Gabriel Obertan suffered an ankle injury which is to rule out the player for an expected 2 weeks.
