Javier Mascherano dedicates Barcelona’s Champions League victory to Liverpool
Barcelona’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Mascherano-c18071 has dedicated his side’s recent Champions League triumph to Liverpool. The Argentine spent three years with the English giants before leaving acrimoniously in the summer of 2010 to join the Catalans.
Mascherano played in the 2011 Champions League final against Manchester United on Saturday, and he helped his side cruise to a 3-1 victory over the Red Devils. It was a sensational display from Barcelona, who made the English champions look ordinary by comparison.
The manner in which Mascherano left Liverpool did not exactly endear him to the fans, but he hopes that his side’s decimation of Manchester United at Wembley will have helped him regain some favour with the Liverpool faithful.
The rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester United is well documented. This season has been particularly difficult for the Reds supporters, as United have recently overtaken their record for the most English League wins, while they had to cope with a sixth
place finish in the Barclays Premier League standings, a position that will see them miss out on European football next season.
However, the Red part of Manchester has suddenly gone very quiet, and Liverpool fans will be glad that their bitter rivals have been brought back down to earth after a successful domestic campaign.
Speaking after his side’s Champions League triumph, Mascherano said, “I know Liverpool supporters after my exit were maybe a little bit sad with me, but I'd like to say this victory is for them as well. To win the Champions League for any footballer is the
top title. We are really happy because we have beaten a fantastic team in Manchester United.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Villa-c10629, all but sealed victory for the Spanish giants after scoring his side’s third goal in the 69th minute. He dedicated his performance to his family, saying, “My goal came at a good time and gave us piece of mind. We
went 3-1 up and it decided the match. We are very happy having achieved all of this. I dedicate it to all my family, my daughters and also (http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-c29670 Reina's, who are like my nieces."
