Since leaving Real Madrid back in 2009, Javier Saviola is back in La Liga playing as a striker for Malaga and stated that he is “happy to return to Spain”.
Joining Malaga on a one-year contract, the 30-year-old striker stated, “I am very happy to return to Spanish football.” He then continued to say, “I hope to have a great season and demonstrate some attractive football. The main thing for me was to come to
a club that is growing.”
The experienced Argentine striker had a good four seasons playing in the Portuguese Primeira League for second place finishers, Benfica.
During his time in Benfica, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Saviola-c18090 scored 24 goals in 69 appearances. He also received the Portuguese Liga Player of the Month award in January 2010, and even helped his team become the league champions after five years.
However, despite stating that he missed Spanish football, there have been moments where the Argentine national had issues.
Having a good career in Barcelona, and even playing on loan in the French league, the Argentine striker got a chance to play for Los Blancos.
He played in Real Madrid for only a little while and then the striker ended up getting less game-time, and in three years, he had only 28 appearances.
The experienced player, however, has now signed a one-year deal with Malaga CF.
Ever since the arrival of Sheikh Al Thani, the Anchovies have improved themselves immensely.
By bringing in high-profile players and getting international recognition, Malaga were able to go from runners up in the Segunda Division, to fourth place finishers in La Liga.
“I hope to have a great season and demonstrate some attractive football. The main thing for me was to come to a club that is growing,” said Saviola. With the club growing at the pace it is, it seems like Saviola has found just what he may have been looking
for.
The Argentine national concluded with saying, “I am happy for this opportunity."
