Javier Zanetti rates Manchester United higher then Barcelona ahead of the Champions League final
Legendary Inter Milan midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Zanetti-c18096, believes that Manchester United will edge out Barcelona in the repeat of 2009 UEFA Champions League final. The Argentinean was talking ahead of the final which is still a couple of weeks away. United and
Barcelona will lock horns on Saturday, May 28, at Wembley Stadium.
Zanetti believed that it will be no different then what everyone saw in 2009 but insisted that the Red Devils will emerge victorious this time around. He added that Sir Alex Ferguson’s side are in a better shape than their opponents and should not be considered
underdogs for the hugely awaited tie.
Zanetti led Inter Milan to the Champions League title last year and expressed his disappointment watching his side exit from the competition even before reaching the last-four. He added that it would not be an easy tie for both the clubs but gave United
the edge over opponents, who are on the verge of winning La Liga title.
Further talking upon United’s chances in the final, the veteran added, "I think the Manchester we saw yesterday [against Schalke] can have revenge this year for the final they lost in Rome. It will not be an easy feat as Barcelona are the team who play the
best football in the world."
Zanetti made his way to Italy in 1995 after serving three years with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567, the 37-year-old has alone made 536 League appearances so far, scoring 12 goals during his stay. The midfielder is still going strong despite racking up 731 appearances
for the club.
When asked about the Nerazzurri season, Zanetti said that it would have been a better feeling had they won the Scudetto, especially after they were unexpectedly dumped out of the Champions League.
He concluded by saying, "We are the world champions and we won the Supercoppa Italiana. So the season is not to be thrown away."
Inter Milan are currently second in the Serie A with 69 points and finds themselves eight points short of the leaders and rivals AC Milan, who are almost assured of the Scudetto title.
