Question:

Jaw pain after root canal

I had a root canal done 5 days ago. The tooth is feeling better. My jaw was a little sore for a day or two and was feeling better until yesterday when I went to eat something and my jaw hurt pretty bad on the side of the tooth and for a quick second locked up on me. I thought it was feeling better last night but today it has been sore, aches a little and feels very tired after I eat and I feel stress on the joints. I have been eating exclusively on one side for a while and I do have TMJ, never been a huge problem, but I am aware that's probably the issue and am a bit concerned.

I hope it's not a serious issue and any additional information would be helpful. Also, any recommendations for what I can do at home for treatment would be great.

I'd love to hear from people in the field.

Thanks!

  1. As a person who worked in the field a few years ago, I would recommend you calling your dentist immediately.  You don't say exactly where your jaw is hurting, but I am assuming in the condyle joint close to the ear.  It appears that your TMJ has been aggravated by your dental work, but you never know.  See your dentist.

  2. call your dentist he is reponsible for this
