Jawhar to settle with the change in ground conditions and the jockey in the 32Red Handicap
Getting an assured nod for the Class 2 32Red Handicap is the four-year-old chestnut gelding, Jawhar. He has been extra ordinary in the last three races that he took part in and honoured the connections by striking a hat-trick right through the last trio
success. He will have to take down seven other three-year-old and above contenders for adding the prize money to his career earnings.
The race is scheduled for Friday, 12th October, 2012 at Bath race course over a mile, two furlongs and forty-six yards. Whoever turns out to be the most competent will get to take away the £10,221 prize money.
The William Haggas trained until now has participated in three seasons however, the contribution in the first two was highly negligible as he raced just once in 2010 and then 2011.
Dividing his 2012 campaign into halves, Halling’s chestnut gelding stayed in the frame of finishing at the first four positions in the races until 4th August.
Once when the Hamdan Al Maktoum owned did start coming back with the prize money, he was impossible to stop. Three wins at three different race courses, but with the same jockey.
His first success, that too as the favourite entry was in the Scroby Sands Handicap on 26th August, 2012 at Yarmouth over a mile and two furlongs.
Joining teams with jockey, Paul Hanagan, he did not speed up right after breaking from the first stall. It was not before the final two furlongs that the four-year-old became prominent. Upon the insistence of the jockey, the gelding went firmer on the grip,
and went across the wire gamely, defeating Manomine by 1 ½ lengths.
Jawhar then claimed the prize money of the Coopers Marquees Stakes (Handicap) on 9th September, 2012 at York over a mile and 2 ½ furlongs. Putting in all the energy at the beginning of the race did not turn out to be the plan. Bursting into speed
only when the race matured got them the winning margin of 2 ½ lengths.
The four-year-old Irish gelding completed the trio by winning the Opus Energy Handicap on 21st September, 2012 at Newbury race course over a mile and two furlongs.
Good and good to firm ground conditions have always helped the first gate, however the surface for the race today is soft. Not only has the surface changed, rather his jockey for today has shifted from Paul Hanagan to, Tadhg O’Shea. How will he incorporate
the changes in order to be the first once across the wire will unfold soon.
