Jay Bruce shines as Cincinnati Reds defeat Milwaukee Brewers 6-1 – MLB Update
Jay Bruce was the shinning player of the night as he hit a three-run homer and pitched well in the seventh inning securing the victory for the Cincinnati Reds over the Milwaukee Brewers on May 7 in Miller Park, Milwaukee.
Bruce struck Marco Estrada his ninth home-run stacking up the score to five in the fourth innings of the match. Bruce is currently batting on .405 with six home-runs to his name due to his last 10 good games.
Bronson Arroyo, pitcher for the Reds, conceded six home-runs and a single run in six innings as Marco Estrada, pitcher for the Brewers threw for seven innings giving up eight homers and five runs.
Alex Gonzalez at shortstop tore his anterior ligament of his right knee during the match and unfortunately he is probably out for the rest of the season. Chris Narveson and Mat Gamel from the Brewers side are also not playing this season due to injuries.
Reds dominated the game from the fourth inning of the match as in the first innings the Brewers were in the lead 1-0 but after that Cincinnati just kept on dominating game by equalising the score. Zack Cozart homered to centre followed by Joey Votto double
to the deep right and then another home-run from Bruce to right centre. Votto and Brandon Phillips also scored making the score 5-1. Then in the ninth inning, Miguel Cairo hit a ground rule double to deep right centre making the score 6-1.
Cincinnati Reds are having a good season so far as they have won 15 and lost 18 games and they are at the number two spot in the National League Central Division. Whereas Milwaukee are having an average season as they have won 12 and lost 17 and are placed
in the second last spot in the NL Central Division. The Brewers will be looking to lift their game as soon as possible and build some much needed confidence in the team.
Eyes are now set on both the teams as the Bewers will like to come back into their game and Reds will try to keep their momentum going as they take each other on May 8.
