Jay Bruce wants to retire with Cincinnati Reds, says Bruce's agent Matt Sosnick
Cincinnati Reds’ right fielder Jay Bruce is currently considered one of very best players to have ever played in a Reds’ jersey after a long period of time.
He started his career in 2008 and since then playing with consistency he achieved two All-Star selections and a Silver Slugger Award.
With his recent consistent form and extraordinary plays, he wants to carry forward his brilliant run towards his retirement with the same team he started his promising Major League Baseball career.
He expressed his desire and explained in the media that he is pleased to play with the Reds for his entire career. According to Bruce's agent, Matt Sosnick, this is confirmed that how he feels about his future relationship with the Cincinnati Reds.
"[Bruce] made it clear that he wants to be a Red his entire career, [Joey] Votto is in his wedding in a couple of weeks and he wants to play with him. He has a lot of friends there. He and his fiancee are very comfortable in Cincinnati," Bruce's agent Matt Sosnick said.
Sosnick added, “If the Reds are interested in talking, we would be interested in exploring it, If not, we'll take no message from it and have no hard feelings. We're in no hurry to sign a contract extension. It was a thought that Jay had because he loves the Reds and Cincinnati."
Bruce finished this past Major League Baseball season with .252 hitting average along with 34 homers, 99 RBIs and .327 OBP.
His career hitting average of .255 also makes him a good role player in the league. Along with a good hitting average, Bruce’s overall 134 homers and 376 RBIs are also a good record for a four-year veteran professional.
Experts believe that seeing Jay Bruce’s talent and experience, the Reds will certainly think about a long term contract but this is still quite early to speculate anything regarding his potential future with Cincinnati side.
Next few weeks will be critical when the Reds’ top management will hold an official club’s meeting and this is also certain that their executives might discuss Jay Bruce’s future.
