Jay Cutler has chance to make Packers game, recovery in progress – NFL News
In the three weeks where Bears fans have seen their team go from playoff shoo-ins to in-danger of not even making the postseason, Jay Cutler gave some hope to them on Wednesday.
Cutler who is nursing a fractured thumb suffered during the Bears last win against San Diego Chargers told ESPN that he might have a chance of making it back in time for the game against Green Bay Packers on Christmas.
"I'll say 'outside,' " Cutler said."I wouldn't say it's good or definite or a real possibility, but there's always a chance, but like you said, we have to get this one first."
The quarterback however emphasised on the word “outside chance” later on as he still has a long way to go to reach full fitness.
"Outside shot, let's not get anyone's hopes up, let's not ruin anybody's Christmas dreams, but outside, outside," he said.
Cutler’s importance to the current Bears side was phenomenal with the franchise losing all three games that he has spent on the sidelines. The Bears playoff hopes are in the doldrums and another loss in this Sunday’s encounter
against Seattle Seahawks will kill off any chances the Bears had of making the postseason.
Cutler also put the initiative on management if they want to select him for the side that will play against Packers.
"That's not up to me," he said. "That's up to management. We'll see what happens there."
The Bears lost their third straight against Denver Broncos in overtime 13-10. Chicago were leading the game in the fourth quarter but mistakes from running back Marion Barber allowed Broncos back into the game and quarterback Tim
Tebow led his team to victory.
Cutler who was with the team in Denver took the opportunity to check up with his surgeon Randy Viola and said that the Doctor was satisfied with his progress.
"It's a matter of how comfortable I am in these next couple of weeks and whether we leave the pins in, or if I'm comfortable throwing with them or not," Cutler said. "As of Sunday, he was really happy with the progress I made so
far."
The Bears management will hope Cutler recovers soon to help them rescue a season which promised so much but has fallen flat since the quarterback went out injured.
