Jay Feaster named permanent General Manager of Calgary Flames
The Calgary Flames was going through a very tough time in late December when Jay Feaster was put into the post as the Acting General Manager of the team.
Since the time he took over, things have looked good for the team, as they have maintained a record of 25 wins in regulation time, 11 wins in overtime and only nine losses. They were also the winners of the Heritage Classic against the Calgary Flames and
almost made their way into the play-offs.
After considering all of the above, the Flames announced that Feaster would now be the permanent General Manager of the Flames.
"We indicated on Dec. 28 the process we wanted to embark on, and today we have concluded that process and I'm pleased to announce Jay Feaster will take over the role effective now as GM of the Calgary Flames", team President and CEO Ken King said.
"Jay has shown tremendous spirit and tremendous work ethic as we wound our way from Dec. 28 to today, and we're very fortunate to have him on board".
Feaster has done quite a lot in the National Hockey League already as he was the General Manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2004 when they went on to win the Stanley Cup.
After his appointment as permanent GM, Feaster expressed his thoughts over the fact that there were things that still needed some changes for the team to be successful. This included the appointment of an assistant General Manager, who would be a help to
the players, a better and experienced staff when it comes to the coaching staff.
Feaster quickly moved on to Brent Sutter’s topic where he said that the team’s priority at the moment wasn’t to move for Sutter, as his contract expires at the end of next season.
However, he expressed that he would like that the relationship between the two continues for a long time.
Sutter and Feaster will be hoping that they were the two missing pieces to the Flames fortunes. However, Sutter has been here for the past three seasons but the Flames haven’t been able to make their way into the play-offs.
Both men are hoping for the best and said that the future is bright for the team and they will be do their best to ensure that the team makes it to the play-offs next year, as a strong contender for the Stanley Cup.
