Jay Price of Qatar Team hails his team-mate Alex Carella: 2011 UIM F1 H2O World Championship
Qatar Team’s Jay Price from United States finished on second podium place in the 2011 UIM F1 H2O World Championship after a moderate showdown during his run in 2011. Meanwhile, his team-mate, Italy’s Alex Carella was able to claim the top spot with an impressive
performance.
On showing such great form, Price has hailed his partner and wished him luck in the future, as he has resigned from the team as a driver. Carella compiled 84 points in seven Grand Prix events around the world, while Price earned 79 to cling to second position.
Speaking to the local media at the conclusion of the championship, Price said, “The difference between a great pass in a race and a miscalculation and disaster is a millisecond and that's what happened in Sharjah. I thought I had an avenue and it closed
and before I knew it, the season was finished.”
The Qatar Team veteran added, “Alex is a great teammate and I couldn't have asked for a better team to work with this season. It was great to lead the championship for over 36 weeks I just wished I could have finished it the way I wanted to for myself and
my team.”
The 2011 campaign started at Doha, in Qatar, the home waters of Qatar Team, which was won by Price. The American driver was in good shape from the beginning of the championship but a couple of disqualifications brought him down in the standings and Carella,
with reasonable scores, emerged as the winner.
Price is currently on third position in Pole Position points table while Carella is on first. However, with a splendid performance from both drivers, Qatar Team managed to grab the top podium finish in the end with 172 points. The F1 H2O fleet will again
be travelling to Doha, Qatar for the commencement of 2012 UIM F1 H2O World Championship in the month of March.
