Tottenham Hotspur defeated http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 saw the visitors secure all three points and snatch the fifth place from Kenny
Dalglish’s side. The Londoners are now one point ahead of Liverpool with one game to go until the season ends.
Spearing was disappointed with the defeat and rued missed opportunities from his side. He claimed that the Reds started the match slowly and gave the opposition a good chance of taking control of the game. The midfielder added that the display was much better
after the interval but it was too late by then.
“Right from the off we didn't start quick enough and they got on top of us and caused us a lot of problems. In the second half we seemed to step it up a little bit but unfortunately it was too late,” the youngster was quoted as saying.
The 22-year old insisted that the penalty awarded to Tottenham was not the right decision and it was harsh on the home side. He also added that his side will have a must win game against Aston Villa at Villa Park next week and hoped that Birmingham get the
better of Spurs. He claimed that it is up to the last game and anything can happen.
“There's not much I can say about it now but I don't think it was a penalty. The referee gave it and we have to get on with it. We've got to go to Aston Villa now and make sure we get the three points and then see what happens in the Birmingham game,” he
concluded.
