Sri Lankan Skipper, Mahela Jayawardene, finally clutched onto a much needed victory when his team outclassed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in all departments of the 6th game of the Commonwealth Bank Tri-Series, played at Sydney Cricket Ground, on February 17, 2012.
After a slow start to the series, the Asian http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 came back with zeal and spirit to seal their first victory in a comprehensive manner.
The veteran skipper praised the performance of the young players, who played a significant role in the recent win and termed them as the future of Sri Lankan cricket. “These are the guys who are going to take http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 cricket into the future," Jayawardene
said.
The return of right-arm fast bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MF-Maharoof-c1944, also proved effective as he played a key part in guiding his team to victory.
 Mahela said, “He (Maharoof) has been playing some good cricket back home. He is one of the guys who can give us something extra with the bat and the ball in different conditions. It's good to have him back.”
The two-time captain further expressed his satisfaction with Player of the Match performance by the 22-year-old all-rounder, Thisara Perera, who contributed heavily by picking up two crucial wickets and contributed with his razor-sharp fielding – yielding
in two runs out.  
Apart from the outstanding performance on the field, Lankans’ batting excelled this time around as Mahela elevated himself up the order after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/WU-Tharanga-c2802 was rested. Leading from the front, the skipper scored an unbeaten half-century, which included an
