Jayawardene warns his side against complacency in the absence of Dhoni the finisher - Cricket News Update
The bruised and battered Sri Lanka cricket team might be a bit relaxed, ahead of their tri-series match against India, as Dhoni is serving a one match ban, but the Lankan skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397 has warned his side against complacency.
It was the Indian captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, at the Adelaide Oval last Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Dhoni will be serving a one match ban due to the
slow over rate in the match against Australia at Gabba, Brisbane.
Speaking to media reporters ahead of the CB series match against India, Jayawardene said that that Dhoni is a match winner and his absence would count for them, however he insisted that they will not take the opposition lightly, and the Men in Blue have
some really big players in their formidable line-up.
"Dhoni is in good form and he is a match winner. But they have also got some really big players. We can't be complacent. We will focus on the entire Indian team and try and execute a good game plan,” said the Sri Lankan skipper at the pre match media conference.
The Islanders started their CB series campaign unimpressively, losing their opening games against India and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. But a thrilling tie against the Men in Blue last Tuesday was followed by an eight wicket thumping of the hosts. This has boosted the morale
of the side, and they must be looking forward to stretching their winning streak when they play http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in their fifth tri-series encounter at Brisbane tomorrow.
Jayawardene agreed they did not start the series in a convincing manner, but he was happy with his team’s resurgence. He singled out the bowlers for praise and hoped they will continue with the good form.
“I think we didn't have a good start but we have improved as a team in every game," said Jayawardene.
"Our guys have been bowling pretty well. They are hitting good areas and adjusting to different surfaces so I feel they will give their best on this wicket as well," he further added.
