Jayke Small seizes Boys 100m breaststroke gold – State Teams SC Championships
Jayke Small of NSW seized gold medal of the Boys 100m breaststroke in 14-15 years age group on last day of the 2012 State Teams Short Course Championships at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra on Monday, October 8.
The 15-year-old Small devastated hopes of his opponents in the 100m discipline and cruised his way towards the finishing wall for gold medal.
With his immaculate efforts in the four-lap breaststroke discipline, he transpired on the finishing blockade for gold medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 04.46 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Harry Dai of NSW, who was 0.47 seconds apart and finished second in the race by producing a time of 1 minute and 04.93 seconds.
Dai was followed by Rory Brown of QLD, who stayed 1.01 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall as third best finisher by submitting a time of 1 minute and 05.94 seconds.
Brown remained 0.06 seconds ahead of Kyron Israelsohn of NSW, who finished his swim in fourth place by reporting a time of 1 minute and 06.00 seconds.
Subsequently, fifth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Grayson Bell of QLD, who suffered a loss of 0.39 seconds and emerged on the finishing blockade by producing a time of 1 minute and 06.39 seconds.
Bell was trailed by William Duncan of SA, who stayed two body lengths behind and transpired on the finishing end as sixth best finisher by submitting a time of 1 minute and 08.34 seconds.
Seventh spot of the event was obtained by William Twizell of SA, who tried hard to surpass his former finisher but stayed 0.06 seconds behind and emerged on the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 08.40 seconds.
Twizell was followed by Nickolas Herford-Collins, who was 1.02 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall as eighth best finisher by producing an effort of 1 minute and 09.42 seconds.
In addition, Small received massive admiration from the audience for his gruelling efforts and articulated that he would try his best to achieve the same at upcoming swimming events.
