Jayson Werth hits galaxy of home runs during practice session in Nationals park - MLB Update
Outfielder Jayson Werth starts his quest for re-entering the season in a style. He struck the ball beautifully in Nationals Park during a practice session.
After fracturing his wrist during a match, he was put on a lengthy disabled list by the Washington Nationals that kept him out from a crucial phase of the season for ten weeks.
He is now ready to appear in the season again. He will start his rehab stint on Friday for Single-A Potomac. That process is going to continue for 20 days before he can join the Nationals’ line-up.
Jayson’s comeback will solidify the Nationals’ offence further. In a line-up that features the likes of Michael Morse, Bryce Harper and Ryan Zimmerman the existence of Werth can make the team invincible in the season.
As the club now moves in to a decisive phase of the season, keeping their top position on the National League East Division table intact can be easier now. One can say that an ideal reality is panning out for the Nationals.
Meanwhile, Jayson will like to take the first rehab game for making drastic strides toward attaining an ideal state of composure on the plate. He will look to impress the management with his swings and hits.
Werth explains the objectives that he is going to achieve from rehab assignments. While he admits that there are still some issues that he has to address, he is hopeful that he can come out stronger at the end of the rehab games.
“I’m not going to put any expectations on [the rehab assignment],” Werth said. “I’m going out on Friday early with the mindset of, ‘We’re going to get ready to play. I’m going to get my body in shape, as I’m gaining strength.’ There are things I still don’t
have with my hand. We’ve still got a ways to go with the rehab. I don’t expect any setbacks or anything like that.”
As Werth appears in his first rehab assignment, one will be curious to see how he faces throws and makes connections on the plate.
Meanwhile, the management will be looking forward to his return in the season at the earliest.
