Jazz scene in Brazil?

Hi there, I'm an italian musician considering about moving in Brazil. I would like to know which are the cities or states there where you have more venues for live jazz playing, musicians, opportunities fo teaching. I have a degree in jazz music from the italian conservatory, would it help in some way?

The metropolis are the best places for it: Rio, São Paulo, Curitiba, Belo Horizonte, etc.

If you are good, you will always find your way. Not easy to make a living as a musician out of Rio and Sao Paulo, so the two cities are probably your best choices.

I live in Rio, and many of my friends are musicians. One of them is Paschoal Meirelles (website http://www.pascoalmeirelles.mus.br/ ), one of the best and most famous jazz drum players in Brazil. The person who introduced us is a travel agent in the US, Jill Siegel, from www.southamericanescapes.com . She is a musician herself, and worked here in Rio for many years.

My suggestion: why don´t you buy your travel tickets from her, and ask her some tips about the music scene in Rio?
