The Rennes centre-back has confirmed that the Italian club has been tracking him for some time and wants him to replace http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thiago-Silva-c34903 at San Siro
The Rossoneri are in search of a new centre-back following the departure of Thiago Silva from the club. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 international was sold to Paris Saint-Germain for a fee believed to be in the region of 42 million Euros.
With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Nesta-c4735 also leaving the club, AC Milan are in dire need of a central defender. Although the Serie A outfit has signed Francesco Acerbi from Chievo, they intend to sign at least one more centre-back before the start of the next season.
The bosses at the club have identified Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik as the player who can help fill the gap left by the departure of Silva and Nesta. And the Rennes man has revealed that the Italian giants are interested in attaining his services.
While talking to reporters, Kana-Biyik admitted that he is aware of the interest from San Siro.
“They have been following me closely for two years, but for now, there is nothing official,” Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik told L’Equipe.
However, the 23-year-old has refused to get carried away. The Rennes man stated that as there is nothing official yet, so it is useless to talk about a move to Milan at this moment.
Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik, who is the product of world-famous Le Havre youth academy, said that as things stand he is still a Rennes player and he will continue to perform his duties here. If Milan make a move, he will think about it then.
“We’ll see what happens, but for now, I’m here.”
The 23-year-old quickly established himself as a first-team player at Route de Lorient following his 2.5 million Euros move from Le Havre in the summer of 2010. The youngster went on to make 28 Ligue 1 appearances in his first season with Rennes.
Kana-Biyik was influential in his side’s success last season making 34 Ligue 1 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit. String of excellent performances in the defence earned him massive praise from coach Frédéric Antonetti.
Rennes would like to hold onto one of their star players and it would be really hard for AC Milan to lure away the defender from the Ligue 1 outfit.
