Jean-Christophe Péraud sets his sights at the Olympics Mountain bike event
Cross country Silver medallist at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Jean-Christophe Péraud is all set to mark his second consecutive appearance at the mega event in London this month.
The event is scheduled on August 12th in Hadleigh Farm, Essex and cross country cyclists from across the globe are getting ready for the biggest sporting event of the season.
Peraud came close to grab the maximum but had to settle for the second position during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
He will now team up with Stephane Tempier to further improve their previous performance and return home with nothing less than the gold.
Christophe is having a dry season and has not registered any victories in the first half of the 2012 season.
He was recently seen in action at the Tour de France in Team Ag2r-La Mondiale colours and has now recovered to ride a different discipline of the sport.
He could not really perform to his capabilities at the French race and failed to achieve his goal of securing a top spot at the overall classifications.
The French finished the race at the 44th overall position falling 1 minute and 40 seconds behind the race leader after the final general classifications.
“It's true that the Tour was disappointing as my initial goal was a good GC placing, and I wasn't able to achieve that”.
“After I lost time in the first week, our objective changed to a stage win, but unfortunately that didn't work out, either".
Peraud also planned to ride the World Cup event scheduled only a week after the Tour but altered his plans in order to ensure his top form ahead of the Olympics.
He told Cyclingnews, "It's just not doable. Instead of racing again, I think I need to get some freshness back”.
"The amount of the workload has been enormous, so now it's really about recovering and assimilating that in the best possible way, to try and transpose it on the mountain bike".
It will be interesting to see if Jean manages to find the right momentum at the last cycling event of the 2012 Olympic Games scheduled on August 12, 2012.
