The former Olympique de Marseille president has once again criticised the current coach and his president for not being able to efficiently handle the club
Ousted almost a year ago, Jean-Claude Dassier’s tenacious resentment has not shown any signs of digestion. The Frenchman was the former president of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 before he was axed and replaced by Vincent Labrune.
Just a few days before the first hearing of the arbitration tribunal in order to settle the dispute between him and the club (Dassier claims 1.7 million Euros for the third year of his contract and premiums he is legally bound to receive), the former strongman
of the Rhone club has launched a scathing attack on Didier Deschamps and Vincent Labrune.
And, the former Marseille supremo’s statements will certainly scald the two men. Now aged 70, Dassier gave a critical assessment of his successor’s managerial abilities.
“Last summer, I was responsible for all the problems of OM. When I see how my successor finished the season and in what state the club is, I think I did much better.”
Certainly, Dassier left a club that had qualified for the Champions League only to find it become a mediocre side a year later.
And, Dassier’s anger is not only confined to the current president. The Frenchman is equally unimpressed with how Didier Deschamps has managed the team and gone about his business in the transfer market.
A few seasons back, Didier Deschamps let http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hatem-Ben-Arfa-c15884 join Newcastle United on a season-long loan. Now, the Frenchman has become one of the best players in the English Premier League. And, Dassier feels that it was poor man-management on Deschamps’ part
that forced the player out of the Velodrome.
“When I see the talent of the boy, I tell myself that something does not work for Deschamps. How a guy who’s considered the best coach in Ligue 1 did not exploit the potential of Ben Arfa?”
Dassier then went on to criticise the former Juventus manager for buying flops like Andre-Pierre Gignac and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hilton-c16219 was sold to Montpellier where he had such a stellar season.
Though violent, these attacks by Dassier are somehow accurate as both Deschamps and Labrune have painted a sorry picture for the club this season.
