Jean Deysel included in Springboks training squad for 2011 Rugby World Cup

South African Rugby Union (SARU) has announced the inclusion of the South African Super Rugby franchise Sharks’ loose head prop, Jean Deysel, in their training squad for their 2011 Rugby World Cup (RWC).
SARU confirmed the move in a statement announced on Wednesday, July 6. The statement read, “Sharks loose-forward Jean Deysel has been added to the Springbok training squad in Cape Town because of injuries, Deysel joined the group on Wednesday.”
Additionally, SARU’s 2011 RWC suffered a major blow as the Springboks medical team on Wednesday, July 6 has confirmed that 21 players of their announced training squad for 2011 RWC will not take part in the away matches during the upcoming Tri Nations tournament.
South Africa rugby union team’s doctor, Craig Roberts, made the announcement during the team’s medical assessments in Cape Town on Wednesday. Roberts said, “Schalk Burger and Duane Vermeulen recently sustained serious injuries and will definitely not be
ready to take part but we’re hopeful that others who have had long-term injuries, such as Juan Smith, Heinrich Brüssow and Gurthrö Steenkamp, may be available at some point in the Series.”
Roberts further added, “There are a number of other players who have been playing through Vodacom Super Rugby with chronic injuries and need rehabilitation now to avoid the risk of the breaking down with longer term injuries in the near future.”
The list of the 21 players and their respective injuries announced by SARU on their official website includes,  Duane Vermeulen (knee), Fourie du Preez (knee), Schalk Burger (thumb), Victor Matfield (calf and neck), Bismarck du Plessis (shoulder), Andries
