Jean-Eric Vergne confidently looks forward to perform well in the 2013 British GP – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver Jean-Eric Vergne has said that he is confidently looking forward to perform well in the 2013 British Grand Prix after attaining strong result in the preceding race at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal.
Vergne performed amazingly well in the Canadian GP and managed to secure his career-best 6th place finish after taking a start from 7th grid slot which has given him a lot of confidence.
The Australian driver expressed great delight over his result in the previous race and asserted that he is positively eying to carry on the same momentum in the next grand prix.
“This is an important result,” Vergne said. “It shows we are doing a good job, especially at the factory. It gives everybody in the team a shot of confidence. So much so that on Sunday evening I was having a long chat with my engineer about the next race,
in Silverstone. We have to keep momentum and I'm looking forward to racing there again.”
“I was very pleased with the result in Canada. It's my best F1 finish and it is nice to put more points on board,” he added. “Sixth place is good result but we need to forget it now and look forward.”
However, he insisted that they should not get carried away with their result in the last race and insisted that they still need to make some essential developments in their car in order to keep on scoring good points in the season ahead.
At present, he is standing at 12th place in the drivers’ championship with 13 points. Additionally, he is ahead of Sergio Perez of McLaren and behind Adrian Sutil of Force India.
On the other hand, his teammate, Daniel Ricciardo is at 14th place in the drivers’ standings with 7 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Nico Hulkenberg of Sauber and behind Perez.
Meanwhile, the Faenza based squad are standing at 7th place in the constructors’ championship with 20 points. In addition, they are ahead of Sauber and behind McLaren. Let’s see how they perform in the season ahead.
