Jean-Eric Vergne feels happy with his result in 2013 Monaco Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver Jean-Eric Vergne has said that he is very happy with his result in the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix which was held at Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo last weekend.
Vergne performed convincingly well in the last race and secured 8th place finish after taking a start from 10th grid slot. The Frenchman said that he is feeling quite relieved after the preceding race as he efficiently managed to stay out of trouble.
“For the race I was expecting some accidents at front and for me to stay out to trouble. I got one of those things but not other, at least not until later in the race,” he wrote in his blog on the official Toro Rosso website.
Furthermore, he said that he took a good start and successfully held his position before the incident of the safety car. In addition, he expressed that he restarted the race very well because of which he was able to gain two positions towards the end.
“My start was really good and I was able to hold my position and to be honest, after the start it was case of staying out of trouble, navigating safety car period well and managing the restart. It went perfectly,” he said.
“However, I'm glad I avoided trouble and eighth place is a good position in Monaco,” he added.
Besides, he admired the performance of Adrian Sutil of Force India who showed some amazing pace and managed to overtake Jenson Button of McLaren and Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
At present, he is standing at 15th place in the drivers’ championship with 5 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Esteban Gutierrez of Sauber. Even though, he has faced retirement in two races and has remained unable to score points with consistency in the season
so far. Nevertheless, he is not feeling upset and is positively looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming races.
It will be quite interesting to see how he performs in the Canadian GP and whether he will be able to attain good results in the season ahead or not.
