Jean-Eric Vergne says he is still feeling pain in his back and neck – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver, Jean-Eric Vergne has said that he has not completely recovered from his accidental injuries in the 2012 Italian Grand Prix and is still feeling pain in his back and neck.
Vergne faced a rear suspension failure during the 9th lap at Autodromo di Monza last week, due to which his car went out of control when he pushed brakes for the first turn and eventually spun out of the track.
Even though, he said that at first he got worried about the huge spin, however, he felt relieved that nothing worse happened in the end.
“The kerbs are quite high at Monza, so when the car hit kerb I was thrown in air,” said Vergne. “I was a little worried that car might flip, so the fact that it didn't is something to be grateful for. It could have been a lot worse than it was.”
In addition, he said that he remained in his car for a while as he felt a little bit of pain. Nonetheless, he asserted that he managed to get out of the car by himself and was ultimately retired.
Furthermore, he expressed that he is not feeling upset over the incident in the previous race while he said that such things happen during the races. Though, he said that he has not fully recovered from the accident, nevertheless, he insisted that is looking
forward to perform well in the Singapore GP.
“After the race, we established it had been a failure with rear suspension. I do feel pretty stiff across my back and neck but I think that will go away over next day or so and I'll get on with what is going to be a pretty busy schedule until Singapore,”
he said.
Besides, he said that he was not comfortable behind the wheel of his car right from the beginning of the race. He added that although he tried to optimise the given opportunities but the suspension failure gave him away.
Over and above, he said that if the unpleasant event didn’t happen, they could have scored some reasonable points in the Italian GP.
