AJ Auxerre coach, Jean Fernandez, has decided to part ways with the club after spending five years at Stade de l’Abbe-Deschamps. The manager mentioned that he had been thinking for the past couple of years regarding his departure but then decided to honour
his contract which has now expired. The 56-year-old decided not to renew his contract, and therefore waved good-bye to the whole of Auxerre staff and the players.
The former Marseille player took over the charge at AJA in 2006 but unfortunately could not inspire his side to any silverware during his five-year stay. He also has managed the likes of Olympique Marseille and FC Sochaux. Fernandez told that he has not
yet decided upon his future but fellow Ligue 1 outfits, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/OGC-Nice-c40111 and Olympique Lyon, seem interested to acquire the services of the veteran.
Meanwhile, Sochaux are also considering offering the Frenchman another spell at the club. Fernandez was previously the manager at Sochaux from 1999 to 2002, before shaking hands with Ligue 2 side, FC Metz.
Further voicing his opinion about the departure, the 56-year-old said, "Yes, I made my decision on Wednesday night. I decided to leave and turn the page at AJA. This choice was difficult. I was reluctant, because I cannot erase five years of my life like
that. Deciding whether to stay or go was a dilemma, but I chose to leave."
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Al-Shabab-c38361 tactician reckoned that the officials at Auxerre were not pleased with the club’s results and therefore his decision might not go in favour of the AJA. Responding to Fernandez’s claims, Auxerre Chairman, Alain Dujon, told that there
was absolutely no grudges with the former manager and it was his own personal decision to leave the club. He further added that he would feel honoured to welcome him again at the club if he ever wants to rejoin the club.
Commenting upon his future, the Frenchman enthused, "I have not decided, I give myself two or three days of reflection."
Fernandez led his side to a ninth placed finish in the 2010/11 campaign.
