Summer signing of French Ligue 1 side Nancy Lorraine, Daniel Niculae has said that Nancy coach Jean Fernandez’s presence at the Lorraine-based club motivated him in joining the club.
The Romanian international played under Jean Fernandez for four seasons at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AJ-Auxerre-c38247 before the 28-year-old departed for AS Monaco last summer. However, the Romanian saw a torrid introduction to life at Stade Louis II as AS Monaco struggled throughout the
2010/2011 campaign and were relegated to Ligue 2.
Fernandez however, had done enough to impress his former coach who jumped at the chance of signing a player he worked with for almost four seasons albeit on a season-long loan which might be made permanent by the end of the current campaign.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Morocco-c2961 international Youssef Hadji left Nancy to join fellow Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais and many people consider Niculae as a direct replacement for the 31-year-old midfielder. Niculae however, has said that he has not joined the club to replace Hadji.
While the last season was a disastrous one for AS Monaco, it was equally testing for Niculae who managed just 17 league appearances for the Monegasque club due to injury. However, Niculae believes that he is now 100% fit and is working hard to get himself
back at the same level that made him such a big star during his time at Auxerre.
While talking about his reasons for choosing Nancy over other clubs, the midfielder said, “Nancy is a stable club that has been in Ligue 1 for many years. I know the coach well having worked with him at Auxerre for four years. I had some great times with
him there.”
Niculae also said that he wanted to work under Fernandez once again as he is a passionate coach who is a role model for all those coaches who have started their coaching careers recently.
Youssef Hadji was a fan favourite during his stay at Stade http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcel-c23507 Picot and Niculae is not looking to step into the shoes of a player who scored eleven goals last season for Les Chardons. Though Hadji has left the club, Niculae could become a direct replacement
for the 31-year-old especially if Niculae manages to stay injury free during his season-long loan at the club.
