The Stade Rennais man was ecstatic following his team’s memorable win over Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes on Saturday and says that he is glad to be back in the Championnat
After being sent off in during Saturday’s Ligue 1 encounter against Paris Saint-Germain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jean-c18112 II Makoun never thought that his side would be able to hold on to their one goal lead over Carlo Ancelotti’s side with just ten men on the
pitch.
However, the Bretons showed true grit and managed to hold on to their slender lead to register three points. This achievement would be long remembered in Rennais folklore and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jean-II-Makoun-c18139 was very happy to see his teammates show so much resolve without
his presence.
Makoun, who joined Frederic Antonetti’s side this summer from Aston Villa, was a guest at the Canal Football Club where he savoured his team’s victory against all odds against a Parisian armada that has been built by their Qatari owners to lift the Championelle.
And, the 29-year-old believes that Paris Saint-Germain are going through a difficult period at the moment but they have to do something about it as everyone is waiting on them.
“At the moment, they are having a difficult time but they have to start (producing results) because everyone is waiting (on them),” said the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lille-OSC-c39800 man.
The win over PSG could be Stade Rennais’ defining moment of the season and just like Antonetti, Makoun feels that now it is important for the squad to move on from the historic win and think about the upcoming challenges.
“I hope it will last. At the moment, we are playing good matches and getting good results. But we must quickly digest this success, keep a cool head and think about the next games.”
Pleased to be back in Ligue 1 after a forgettable spell with English Premier League outfit Aston Villa, Makoun credits his success in the Championnat to his time in Lyon and feels that his former team has the potential to become champions once again.
“I learned a lot in Lyon. I think Lyon is a team to watch out for, to finish on the podium and why not become a champion?”
