The Troyes coach is delighted with his side’s change in fortunes and has said that his team has not been promoted to Ligue 1 by accident
After seeing his team beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 in the league and then eliminating AS Monaco in the Coupe de la Ligue, Ligue 1 side, Troyes coach Jean-Marc Furlan is very optimistic about his side’s chances of doing well in the coming games.
After a very tough start to the new campaign, ESTAC have started showing signs of a mini revival and their coach is sure that the team will be out of the woods in no time if they keep on building further momentum.
While talking to ligue1.com, the former Girondins de Bordeaux player said that many people do not consider his team as a real Ligue 1 outfit and said that many people were very surprised when his charges eliminated a much-fancied AS Monaco side on their
own turf.
Nevertheless, the coach says that it was not an accident that his team won promotion to Ligue 1 as they worked really hard for it.
"I think these reactions also come because in Monaco, we were up against a side with a lot more financial clout than us. But we're not being paranoid. Monaco were dominant as they beat Valenciennes [in the round of 32] and were more or less the favourites
against us. But we showed, and want to continue showing, that we're not in Ligue 1 by accident."
After qualifying for the quarterfinals of Coupe de la Ligue for the first time in their history, Furlan is not losing focus and has said that even though the result is a cause of immense joy, his team should now turn their attention towards the Ligue 1 encounter
with reigning champions Montpellier Herault (Furlan’s former club) on Saturday.
Win over Monaco has taken a lot of pressure of his side’s shoulders but Furlan maintains that his lads have never disappointed him and praised the younger players for coping well in dire circumstances.
The cool-headed coach has got a lot of support from the club’s directors and feels that his attitude has helped the club a lot.
"I think really my attitude has a lot to do with the confidence of the president and how committed the players are," said the 54-year-old.
