The Olympique Lyonnais president has revealed that his management has not agreed a deal with Tottenham Hotspur over the transfer of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris
Yesterday, it was reported that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 had said no to a move to English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur as the wages he was offered by the London club were not good enough. Initially, it was believed that Les Gones had agreed
terms with Spurs.
However, it now appears that the 25-year-old shot-stopper has chosen to respond positively to the advances of the London club. Reports from yesterday claimed that Spurs offered Lyon 16.5 million euros for the 25-year-old. However, it now appears that nothing
like this actually happened.
While talking to journalists, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 president, Jean-Michel Aulas revealed that the proposal submitted by the Londoners is far away from what Lyon want for Lloris.
“I inform that Olympique Lyonnais have not reached an agreement with Tottenham over the transfer of Hugo Lloris. Proposals submitted by Tottenham tonight are significantly distant from the principle amount which was officially released on August 26 which
opened up discussions between the player and the London club.”
While everything seemed settled, it is difficult to fathom what caused this reaction from the Rhone club. According to L’Equipe, it is Tottenham who are playing cat and mouse with the leaders of Lyon. Clearly, Spurs have revised their offer of 16.5 million
euros and might even consider lowering it a little bit. This shift has certainly not been met well by Olympique Lyonnais management.
Initially, Les Gones wanted 20 million euros for the player and it now appears that the French club might even decide to end negotiations with Spurs.
However, reports claim that a transfer might finalise later today. With substantial financial windfall following the departure of Croatian international http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 to Real Madrid, Tottenham know that it will be very impossible to get a discounted price
for Lloris’ signature.
Lyon on the other hand, would be willing to enter negotiations with another club if Spurs continue to be unwilling to yield. Although Lloris’ replacement has not been found, the club will have plenty of cash to spend on a new custodian if the former Nice
man leaves.
