The Olympique Lyonnais president was not happy with the way match officials performed during his side’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur in a Europa League encounter at White Hart Lane
Through his twitter account, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 president, keeps things spicy and entertaining in the world of Ligue 1. Critical comments here and there and the president is making sure that no means of communication is abandoned. However, if his words are
not passed on effectively through the social media, Aulas knows how to talk during post-match reactions.
And, during his side’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham in last night’s Europa League encounter at White Hart Lane, Aulas had a few regrets which were not based on the performance of his players.
While talking to L’Equipe, the Lyon supremo commended the players for their performances and efforts to make sure that the Spurs offensive side did not express itself throughout the game. However, the president was furious at the match referee, Mr Proenca
who missed out a blatant penalty on Gomis. Despite the fact that the referee and Spurs manager, Andre Villas-Boas are both Portuguese, Aulas feels that he failed to see how the fifth official missed out on the penalty incident.
“I think, without making a relationship between the Portuguese referee and the nationality of the Tottenham coach, there was an obvious penalty on Gomis. The fifth official must have given his say about that matter. But we will have our chances in the second
leg.”
However, Aulas was very impressed with what he saw of man of the hour, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422. The Frenchman referred the Welshman as the English Juninho after he scored both goals from free-kicks.
“Tottenham are a great team with an “English http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Juninho-c20055”. We have not said our last word and I am very pleased with the goal by Samuel Umtiti.”
And, the president was happy to see his side move on quickly following the weekend’s Ligue 1 defeat at the hands of Lille which saw Aulas go to the players’ dressing room to have a word with them. The president is keen on seeing his side do well and feels
that it is more important to have collective joys rather than the ones as an individual.
