Jean-Michel Aulas further refines Olympique Lyonnais’ contours of the transfer window – Ligue 1 news
With just three weeks left till the opening of the winter transfer window, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 president Jean-Michel Aulas took some time out for the media to further refine and elaborate the club’s targets.
Following a phenomenal 7-1 win over Dinamo Zagreb in their last group game of the UEFA Champions League, Les Gones have miraculously qualified for the knockout stages of the competition. However, the Frenchman knows that things are certainly far from being
all rosy at the club.
Asked by RMC, Aulas revealed that he intends to keep up with his plans for the club despite qualification to the last 16.
“There is no change in plans. Players who will be coming out of their contracts in June will be sold in January. We do not want to have a player who is free on June 30. There will be a departure because I have to answer DNCG as well. There will be no arrivals,”
Aulas said thus putting an end to fans’ hopes of seeing new arrivals at the club in the winter transfer window.
In recent weeks, France international Yoann Gourcuff has been linked with a move away from the Stade de Gerland. The 25-year-old’s performances have been far from satisfactory since his big-money move to the Rhone club from Bordeaux in the summer of 2010.
However, Jean-Michel Aulas put an end to the Gourcuff debate by revealing that the club will in no way let go of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yoann-Gourcuff-c37416.
“Yoann will stay with us. He is an important investment that we made and he has to carry the flag for us. He will be with us at least until June 30 and I hope for the rest of his contract because he still has four years left on it,” Aulas said thus defining
Gourcuff’s importance at the club.
Certainly by keeping Gourcuff in his plans, Aulas has shown his support to a player who has indeed not been able to give his best for Les Gones.
Aulas earlier indicated that the club will let go of at least one big player this winter which means that left-back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international has also expressed his desire to play for a big European club in the future.
