Jean-Michel Aulas hits out at former Lyon coach Claude Puel – Ligue 1 news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 president Jean-Michel Aulas has reacted strongly to the accusations made by former coach Claude Puel.
Puel strongly criticised Aulas for not giving him his full support and also criticised club captain Cris for not helping him during his time as the coach of Les Gones. Puel said that Aulas and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cris-c9486’s presence at Stade Gerland never allowed the tactician
to give his best.
On the contrary, Aulas says that he gave the former AS Monaco coach his full support and opened up the club’s treasury to aid Puel in buying the best players for the club. in the summer of 2010, Puel brought in Yoann Gourcuff from Bordeaux and made a lot
of other signings including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dejan-Lovren-c10779.
However, during his three-year reign, Lyon failed to win a single trophy. This summer, the Frenchman was removed from his position as the coach of Lyon with one more year still left on his contract.
Puel took his case to the Labour Court a few months back and demanded nearly five million euros for the one year of his contract from Lyon.
During a session on September 9, 2011 in the Labour Court, Aulas admitted his mistake by appointing Claude Puel as the coach of Lyon and said, “I make mistakes like everyone else and when I do, I recognise them. I worked hard for this club and I always try
to do better.”
However, Aulas denies of receiving any support from the Lyon hierarchy and said that he gave it his best during his three years in charge of the club. On September 11, 2011, Puel won his case and received the demanded amount (five million Euros).
After the end of the hearing, Puel said, “Supported by Aulas? Gathering players as he did in September 2010 ask them what they think of the coach is a way to support?”
Since Puel has left the Stade Gerland, Lyon have instilled Remi Garde as the new coach who has definitely changed things at the club. Though Lyon did not spend lavishly in this summer’s transfer window, the club has made a great start to the new campaign.
