Present in training yesterday, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 president, Jean-Michel-Aulas, has said that he will continue supporting coach Remi Garde and has issued a warning to his players to do well for the team before it’s too late
Following a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Nancy Lorraine on Saturday, Olympique Lyonnais have fallen in seventh place in the Ligue 1 standings and chase LOSC Lille by seven points.
Les Dogues are occupying the last Champions League spot and Lyon could be hard pressed to usurp the Northerners. In the month of February Les Gones did not manage to win a single game in the league.
The month of March has also started in a similar fashion for the Rhone side. Put against a relegation-threatened Nancy Lorraine, Remi Garde’s men did not give a good account for themselves and eventually, lost the game 2-0.
The next day, Aulas arrived at the training session with a view to see how things are going. Many people suggested that Aulas’ arrival puts Garde’s future under intense scrutiny. However, the strongman of Lyon denied those speculations and said that he never
planned to attend the training session and added that he wanted to show his team that he is supportive of them.
However, Aulas feels that the players have to take responsibility for what has been happening in recent weeks.
“These (players) are good guys but this is not enough. They should not think that they can take my desire of being a president of a club committed on all fronts away from me,” says Aulas thus indicating that he wants things to change at the club quickly.
However, Aulas has given all his support to Remi Garde. Aulas feels that the young manager has done fairly well for the club given the tough circumstances.
“Remi has worked miracles with a team coming out of difficult seasons. With the talent of Remi, my experience and pragmatism of Bernard (Lacombe), we’ll get there.”
Aulas says that players should not miss the opportunity of playing for Lyon.
“They are children, talented, have money, fame but need to be more advanced in the way they use it.”
We are still far from Aulas’ rant but this is an indication that the boss might lose it soon.
