The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 president commented on the current crisis at Paris Saint-Germain and has advised the Qatari owners to be patient with under-fire manager, Carlo Ancelotti
One can indeed imagine the happiness on the face of Olympique Lyonnais president Jean-Michel Aulas to see his club lead the Ligue 1 standings over Paris Saint-Germain by a whooping five points. It is indeed surprising to see a team with strained funds doing
so well in the Ligue 1 over a team that has already invested about 250 million euros in recent transfer markets.
Obliged to make changes to the OL lifestyle due to the financial woes, Aulas still does not enjoy an easy life as he has to part ways with a few more players in order to settle his club’s accounts. However, seeing his team doing well on the field does not
necessarily means that Aulas would go on a crusade to crucify Paris Saint-Germain and their extravagant spending.
On the contrary, the experienced president feels that when a club fast tracks its way to success, things get more complicated as you have to keep the right balance between short-term and long-term success. Seeing PSG doing well in the Champions League makes
Aulas happy but the Lyon president is of the view that life in the Championnat is much more difficult.
“Paris will be very successful in the Champions League this year so it is important not change who has been hired even in the Championnat – it’s more difficult. I trust the Qatari leaders to make the right decisions and to find serenity.”
And, Aulas has lend some much-needed support to under-pressure manager Carlo Ancelotti whose future at Parc des Princes has become a subject of debate in all corners of the Old Continent.
Aulas has advised the Qataris not to fire the manager and give him a bit of time because the team is a very good one.
“If I had any advice, I would not change anything because of the quality of Paris players and the investments. It is an obligation of Paris to give him (Ancelotti) a bit of time.”
