The game against Toulouse after losing the Coupe de la Ligue final to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 was a great opportunity for Olympique Lyonnais to bounce back in style. However, Les Gones were humbled by a well-drilled Toulouse side who scored three goals past

The defeat has dealt a big blow to Lyon’s small chances of overtaking Lille at third place. Champions League football is important for Lyon who are in dire need of the European windfall in order to assemble a stronger team for next season.
However, Jean-Michel Aulas feels that the team still has a good chance of finishing in third place and that the team failed only because they played Toulouse after a pretty tough final at the Stade de http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899.
“I’ll just do my analysis as president. I think the team failed physically after two tough matches. There really isn’t much to be proud of but OL have never been this strong. Third place will be difficult but it is still possible.”
The Frenchman then told his players about the importance of finishing third in Ligue 1. Aulas says that for a team like Lyon, playing in Champions League is very important and also added that though players’ goal is to win the Coupe de France, his personal
aim is to qualify for Champions League.
“If the Coupe de France is the players’ goal, the Champions League remains the objective of the president,” says Aulas before mentioning that the game against US Quevilly was going to more than a foregone conclusion.
“The Coupe de France will not be easy, because whole of France will be behind the amateur world,” concluded Aulas.
Conducting a meeting with players after the Toulouse defeat was a good step taken by Aulas who knows that the club has no margin for error in the final sprint of a Ligue 1 campaign that has been as exciting as ever.
