The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 president spoke about the club’s upcoming economic model and revealed that the club would become competitive in Europe from 2016
Despite their financial constraints, Ligue 1 outfit, Olympique Lyonnais are doing pretty well at the moment. Under the tutelage of Remi Garde, the Rhone giants are in third place in the Ligue 1 standings and have already qualified for the knockout phases
of this season’s edition of the UEFA Europa League.
And, while talking to reporters, the club’s president, Jean-Michel Aulas spoke about the club’s efforts in making the institution a financially sound one over the next couple of years. while talking to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 Football, the Lyon supremo said that being the
chairman of European Club Association’s finance committee, it is his responsibility to make sure that his club respects the financial fair play ruling.
“Over the next two years, we must be able to ensure that our wages and expenditure is in line with our resources. As chairman of the Finance Committee of the ECA, I would not be a credible person if I did not set this example here.”
Although Aulas has not spoken about future sales in the transfer window, he says that there will be good players at the club during the 2015/2016 season, players who will try and match the accomplishments of Lyon squads that dominated France for almost seven
years.
“From 2016, Lyon will be competitive at the European level as it was on the French from 2000 to 2008. But as a part of the new economic model.”
The new economic model would rely a lot on spending resources on the club’s training centre. Aulas says that he aims to liberalise loan packages for young players by giving them good contracts so that they don’t leave the club in a rush. However, Aulas has
also added that the young players would not remain as the club’s only hope.
“French training is effective. But our young people should not remain an eternal hope. The duration of their first professional contract should be extended to four years so that they have time to integrate.”
Aulas’ biggest dream is to see his beloved Lyon win the Champions League.
“My only dream is to play in the Champions League at home and win. You realise what this means?” concluded the Lyon supremo.
